Bővebb ismertető
This book was written to fill what we, as teachers of strategic managementand business policy, perceived to be a void in the previously offered texts.Specifically, we wanted to develop a book which provides extensive textmaterial in conjunction with cases selected to reinforce specific chapters inthe text. All too often, we have experienced books with very little teachabletext or a selection of cases which, even when interesting, are difficult torelate to the text material. In order to achieve our goal, we have given thisbook twelve full-fledged text chapters, each of which is accompanied by twocases. In every instance, we have chosen cases that we believe can bedirectly related to the material in their respective chapters. In addition to thechapter cases, we have provided eight general cases in the back of thebook. These cases were selected because of their general scope and inte-grative nature. In addition to the previously described features, we have supplementedthe text material with extensive examples and illustrations of what actualcompanies are doing. It is our hope that these examples and illustrationswill add a dimension of realism not usually found in college textbooks. For those users who have access to a personal computer, a supplementalMcGraw-Hill manual Strategic Case Analysis Using the Personal Com-puter, by Benjamin Harrison, is available. This manual has been wirttenprimarily for use with this book.We realize that our goals for this book are high. We have sincerely triedto meet these goals, and we hope you will agree that we have been at leastpartially successful.Like all authors, we are indebted to numerous friends, family, students, and colleagues.
