Bővebb ismertető
Museums devoted to a single artist are gradually becoming less of a rarity, and one of the most prominent is the Van Gogh Museum. Nowhere else in the world can one get such a sweeping impression of Vincent van Gogh's art as in Amsterdam. In addition to enjoying world-famous masterpieces from each period in the artist's career, such as The potato eaters, The bedroom, Sunflowers and Wheatfield with crows, it is only here that visitors have the opportunity of getting to know many dozens of less well-known studies. The Van Gogh Museum has even higher ambitions. Its aim is to display Vincent van Gogh surrounded by the art of his own day - the second half of the 19th century. Van Gogh's work hangs here in the company of paintings by his friends Emilé Bemard, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Paul Gauguin. The museum alsó presents a survey of the 19th-century art that preceded and inspired Van Gogh, such as landscapes from the School of Barbizon, and realistic depictions of peasant life by Jean-Fran^ois Miilet and Jules Breton. Finally, such Impressionists as Claude Monet and Symbolists like Odilon Redon can alsó be admired here. The collection is regularly enriched with new acquisitions. We hope that this guide will help you in your exploration of Ihis unique museum, and that as a souvenir it will provide you with vivid memories of your visit.
