Foreword from the editors The Meaning of Present and Future FOi? millions of people, life seems absurd and meaningless. Science and technologii, and even philosophii and theology, haue considered human beings as the mere result of chance. However, consciously or unconsciousit/, both men and women find it difficult to accept a purposeless existence. Violence, protests, rebellion, and drug-addiction are often irrational expressions of people who are fighting against a dreadful feeling of confusion, befitting utterly lost beings. As if they were orphans, they cry in their loneliness and desperation, "Who am I? Who are my parents? Why did they abandon me? How could I possibly find them?" There are those who go to science in search of an answer, tuning the big radio telescopes that beat with the rhythm of stars, as if to ask: "Is there anybody there who knows me? Anyone interested in me?" However, science has no answer Science can answer questions about the mechanics of things: "How is an atom constituted? How do we split it? How does our mind work? How is the universe made?" Yet she is incapable of explaining the purpose of such realities. Science cannot tell us why an atom exists, why there are human beings in the world, or why the universe came into being. Neither can she answer the distressing queries made everywhere which trouble thinking peo-pie: If there is justice and meaning in the universe, why do the innocent suffer like the guilty? Is there an afterlife? Does the human personality go on living after death? Do the Christian churches of our days really represent God? What is the truth? What future is awaiting our world? Will it come to its end in the whining of a child who struggles amid the gasps of its last breaths in a polluted atmosphere, or rather with the formidable outburst of an atomic inferno produced by a hydrogen bomb? Or will perhaps human beings—who throughout history have never controlled their own basic selfishness—suddenly succeed in banishing evil, war, poverty, and even death? This book gives meaningful answers with a strong foundation; comforting answers. Life has a meaning. We are not alone in the universe! There is Someone who takes care and is interested in us! Someone who just happens to be very involved in the development of human history, who personally joined our species so that we could get to him and he could reach us. Someone whose all-powerful hand has been over this planet, and who will guide it back to peace very soon. But a long time ago a persuasive cosmic being intended to assume the control of our world and thwart God's plan for the happiness of the human family. In graphical language—which thousands of people have considered inspired,—the author of this book draws the veil of what is confusing and unknown, and courageously states the strategies of the powerful, albeit invisible, personality whose hand is stretched out to take possession of the sovereignty of our world. In the human setting, corrupt rulers and religious organizations are exposed as partakers in this great conspiracy. Only at a time of religious liberty could a book such as this be published and enjoy such widespread distribution, since it refers directly to some of the most powerful institutions of our time. It explains the reason why a Reformation was needed, and why it was halted: it narrates the sad history of the apostolic church; and it tells us about persecuting alliances, and about the conception of a dangerous union between Church and State, which is to play an important role before the millenary struggle between good and evil comes to its end. Every human being will take part in this tremendous conflict. Here the author writes about things that did not even exist in her days. She speaks with a disturbing and alarming honesty, and yet it guides in the right direction. The different aspects of the controversy are so big, and the possible consequences so enormous, that somebody had to convey these words of warning and enlightenment. No one who reads this book will think that mere chance persuaded him or her to read it. The editors
