We are tired, and we need a holiday
There were four of us - George, and William Samuel Harris, and myself, and Montmorency the dog. We were sitting in my room, smoking and talking.
We were all feeling tired, almost ill, and we were now 5 quite worried about it. Harris said:
"Sometimes I feel so tired that I can hardly get up in the morning."
George said: 10
"It's even worse with me!" I said:
"I think I'm more than tired - I'm ill." I had just read a thick book about people who are ill. That book gave all their illnesses. And I had every 15 illness in the book. That, at least, was what I felt.

We sat there for half an hour, telling each other how ill we were feeling. I told George and William Harris how I felt when I got up in the morning. William Harris told us how he felt when he went to bed. George stood in 20 front of the fireplace and told us how he felt in the night.
George believes he is ill; but there's never anything really the matter with him, you know.
Just then Mrs Poppets knocked at the door.
"Are you gentlemen ready for supper?" she asked. 25
