THE ENEMY I KILLAlexander Knox spent his childhood in NorthernCanada where his father was a Presbyterian ministerin the small town of Pembroke, Ontario. As a youngman he joined a repertory company in Boston,Massachusetts, and since then he has had a variedcareer in both the film and theatre worlds. EdgarWallace gave him a job at WyndhamV Theatre inLondon during the early 1930s and he has writtenseveral plays including Red on White, Old Master,and The Closing Door. Besides working in Holly-wood, he has filmed in nearly every European countryand in Africa, appearing in such films as TheDamned, Accident, and Modesty Blaise. He haswritten two other novels, Bride of Quietness andNight of the White Bear.For twenty years, Alexander Knox and his wife livedin a tower on the Northumberland coast: they nowlive in London.
