The Doomsday Carrier Victor Canning's first novel, Mr Finchley Discovers His England, was published in 1934, since when he has been a full-time author and has over thirty novels to his credit. He is also the author of many short stories and serials which have been published in the principal newspapers and magazines of England and America. Born in Plymouth in 1911, Victor Canning was a features writer for the Daily Mail before the Second World War, during which he was commissioned in the Royal Artillery. He has worked as a scriptwriter in Hollywood, and now lives in Devon.
