^ -Tinlpolicy networkPolicy Network is an international think-tank launched in December 2000 with the support of Tony Blair, Gerhard Schröder, GiuUano Amato and Goran Persson following the International Progressive Summits in New York, Florence and Berlin. In July 2003, Policy Network organised the Progressive Governance Conference, which brought together 12 world leaders, former heads of state, and over 600 progressive politicians, thinkers and strategists. Hosted by Tony Blair, the conference was the largest international gathering of progressives ever assembled.A Progressive NetworkPolicy Network's objective is to facilitate the exchange of ideas among the centre-left in Europe and the world, working with those who look to forward a progressive agenda through its unique network of organisations and experts. Our Common ChallengeProgressive governments and politicians across the globe are, more than ever, facing the same problems. Rising fears for security, both economic and political, the revolution in information technology, and the contradictions of traditional welfare and employment policies are among the new challenges that affect countries in increasingly similar ways. Often, governments and parties have worked independently to resolve these problems. But, even where particular national challenges exist, we now find that we can learn much from the experience of others on the kind of approach that is likely to prove most effective. There is a growing consensus about the need to pay greater attention to policies tried and tested in other countries, to look creatively at new means to achieve traditional progressive goals, and to support modernisers.vn
