The published papers are dealing with the following topics:
1. The articles of the Columbia University Seminars team treat solid wastes and toxic wastes including treatment, removal and recycling.
2. The agricultural pollution problems of Hungary are described by the members of the Agricultural Sciences University, Debrecen concerning especially fertilisation, irrigation, nutrients, herbicides, pesticides, grass-land management including reconstruction environmentally damaged landscape and reiterated duplication of multigenes.
3. Finally, some problems on mineral waters, animal wastes, waste disposal systems and agricultural experimental services in Hungary are handled.
The joint effort of this publication contributes to mutual understanding of environmental problems in semiarid rural regions.
The Editorial Board of the Seminar Series together with the Steering Committee of the Seminar express their appreciation to all contributing members and lecturers.
