Here it was decided that to work effectively and to guarantee an international standard an Advisory Board had to be set up which would enlist established members of the international Higher Education scene. The Advisory Board was toa)aid in setting up the principies and standards for accreditation in Hungary, andb)assist in recruiting independent experts to evalúate the proposals for doctorate programs.On March 1-2, 1993 HAC held an open forum followed by a closed meeting with its Advisory Board. Next to HAC's regular members the following Advisory Board members were present:Lord Brian Flowers, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of London, United KingdomJohn W. Ryan, President Emeritus, Indiana University, USAHans-Uwe Erichsen, president of the Germán Rectors' Conference,GermanyJ0rgen Bach Andersen, Pro-Rector, Aalborg University and member of the Danish Rector's Conference, DenmarkPeter Fischer-Appelt, President Emeritus, Hamburg University, member of the standing committee on international affairs of the Germán Rectors' Conference and former president of CC-PU, Germany Danielle Velde (not a member of HAC's Advisory Board, substituting for Professor Pierre Tabatoni of ESMU, Brussels, Belgium), Pierre et Marie Curie University, Paris.The Advisory Board members attending formulated their Recommendations about the work of HAC so far and for the future. Overall they found that HAC was well on its way to launching an effective accreditation system in Hungary.
