DeorAudience! There a re defining periods ín the íífe of every cultura! institutíon. These include the first few years after opening, when everyone is eager to discover the building and its spaces This is a period of discovery. And tben suddenly a decade passes and peopie become increasingiy attached to the place. ít becomes part of their lives. For us, too, it is a great joy to see Mupa Budapest evolving into a household name. Many peopie come to Budapest from around the world to experience in person what they have seen time and again in recordings, live webcasts and photographs - we consider this a major triumph. Müpa Budapest means something dífferent to everyone and although the venue itself is immediately recognisabíe and embíernatic, we aíways enjoy seeing it take on a dífferent personality for every event. When they hear the words Müpa Budapest, there are those who immediately think of the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall with its characteristic wooden panelling and full houses. There are others who remember the open spaces of the foyer, the morning light in the Class Hall, and when every corner of the building is fii led with the families who regularly fíötk to the weekend family and youth programmes. Somé were brought for the Crazy About Jazz series, so the Bohém Restaurant, which has transformed into something of a jazz club, is their favourite. Meanwhile, the view of the Danube is the first thing fans of the Hey, June! pop music series think of. The sun-kissed terrace truly is the soul of the place in the summer.Personally, I will never forget walking around the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall for the first time while it was still very much in the construction phase: everywhere was concrete and the structure was barely visible through the monumentaí grey columns. Head architect Gábor Zoboki and i said in unison- this is just like the set of Wagner opera, it could be Valhalla itself We are very proud that a succession of directors have brought their vision to the stage for the Budapest Wagner Days series, and this tradition lives on. Balázs Kovalik returns with hís Flying Dutchman, Stephen Could sings his favoured role, Tannháuser under the direction of Matthias Oldag. and Cesare Lievi arrives with a brand-new production of Triston und Isolde. If there is a time of year that really does offer a dífferent experience every evening, it is spring-summer. It is during the Budapest Spring Festíval that a genuine festival atmosphere takes over. Come and jóin us and see what it is like to hear the fanfares as the Wagner 'crowd' enjoys its picnic, stop by the morning and early afternoon Paloce of Delights family programmes. and feel the excitement when world stars converge for the Jazz Spring festíval. It is well worth checkíng out the most surprising venue of alt. when the buildings underground garage becomes an impromptu 'concert hall' to showcase young bands for our third Garage Band Festíval. In additíon to announcing the programme for the coming 2018/19 season, we will alsó be presenting a special innovation using VR technology this March. rnaking the Mupa Budapest experience more complete than ever from this spring. In every respect.Csaba Káel CEO
