tke, SexixJuur-: This booklet is part of the-LOOK SHARP! Project of International House Language School, Hungary (IHLS). The aim of this project is to provide for the various needs of students of English, French, Germán, Hungárián, Italian, Ruasian and Spanish by offering them objective tests that enhance the efOelency of standard series of textbooks in a wide spectrum of skilk (grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, function etc.) and subjects (General Knowledge, Science, History, Geography, Literature, Fine Arts, various fields of engineering, humán relations, management...), and even personalíty- or I.Q. tests. All the LOOK SHARP! tests are classified according to language, skill or subject and level. The first character of the Test Nr. gives the language (E for English, F for French, D for Germán, H for Hungárián, I for Italian, R for Russian and S for Spanish). The second character gives the leveL In tests written for standard textbooks this is a number between 0 and 9 and shows the absolute level of testing which may coincide with the entrance level of a particular term or semester. In test booklets on specific subjects and in test companions of various books, however, the second character of the Catalogue Nr. or Test Nr. is a letter (A, B, C etc.) and only refers to the suggested order of completion oi these booklets. The íhird character of every Test Nr. or Catalogue Nr. denotes the particular skill or subject that particular test or test booklet concentrates on (G for grammar, F for function, V for vocabulary, R for reading comprehension, S for reading speed, M for mbced tests etc.). We do encourage everybody to try to do the testing with the help of CATS (Computer Aided Testing System, developed at LOGOS Language School, Hungary). This sophisticated educational tool offers step by step íeedback to the stndent by teliing him whether hís answer was correct or not, displays the correct answer, calculates the score and reading speed, measures the time and gives a printed certificate of achievement. Thus the horror of traditional exams and testing periods is turnéd into fun of achievement and joy of new diacoveries. If you try it once, you will have a great chance of getting addicted to this harmless and useful passión.
