Bővebb ismertető
The green hills of Ireland have always been seeped in myth, legend and folklóré. The tales that comprise this tradition are interwoven with everyday life in Ireland - they are an integrál part of Irish heritage and character. Sámuel Lover and Thomas Grofton Croker have here collected a wonderful array of such stories from every corner of the country. The stories are conveyed with gusto in a lively, vernacular style and contain a host of characters - King O'Toole, Saint Kevin and the King's old goose, the treacherous Emmán the Black, the devil who vanishes in a flash of fire, and lost Eva, wandering insane after the death of her betrothed. Among the hills and streams of Ireland, in the 'dust and din and smoke' of cities appear banshees, fairies, headless horsemen, Trolicking Irish peasants', and the occasional 'blood-stained sinner5, making this a memorable and often amusing collection of tales.
