ADVICE ON PRACTICA!. MATTERS VISAS Tourist visas for Hungary are issued within 24 hours by Hungárián diplomatie missions (embassles, légations). (In cases of emergency, visas may be obtained Immediately at frontier crossing-points.) Tourist visas may be obtained on production of forint vouchers or forint cheques. Visas granted against vouchers are issued to visitors intending to avail themselves of tourist services in Hungary, such as hotel or motel accommodation, and meals; also to visitors, who, in order to obtain a tourist visa, have paid down the expenses covering their proposed stay in Hungary with IBUSZ trave! agency or IBUSZ's agents abroad. Such visas entitle the holder to stay as many days as advance payment permits. Visitors desirous of prolonging their stay in Hungary are required to pay the cost of additional days in foreign currencies. To obtain a visa, the traveller is required to produce or submit the following documents: (1) a passport valid for Hungary, (2) an application for a visa (submitted in triplicate), (3) two photographs, not older than six months, and (4) a duplicate copy of the voucher (certifying that services have been paid for). Visitors not wishing to avail themselves of IBUSZ's services may obtain a visa by buying forint cheques for a sum that will cover the expenses of their stay. Hungárián diplomatie missions in neighbouring countries (in Belgrade, Bucharest, Moscow, Prague and Vienna) and the competent authorities at frontier stations (exduding rail transport) are author-ised to issue 'week-end visas' valid for two days. The validity of week-end visas cannot be extended. Visitors taking out week-end visas are required to buy forint cheques (assignments) to cover the expenses of their stay. The purchase of forint cheques is not obligatory for children and youths under 16 travelling with their parents or escort. Campers who can prove their membership of a Camping Club are enabled to buy reduced-rate forint assignments. Travellers in possession of a transit visa (valid for 48 hours) are not obliged to buy forint assignments. Transit visas are only issued to travellers in possession of a visa to a country which they cannot reach otherwise than by passage through Hungary. Forint assignments can be cashed, at the current National Bank of Hungary rates of exchange, at the following places (no discounts are m ad e):
