Bővebb ismertető
* ABOUT THIS BOOK This year's edition is set in DIN, a typeface originally designed for signage on the Germán road network (DIN stands for 'Deutsche Industrie Norm', the 'Germán Industrial Standard') but adapted for print publishing - with improved readability - by the Dutch typographer Albert-Jan Pool. Most editions - for the UK, USA, Canada, French Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Denmark, the Netherlands, Finland, Francé, Italy, Norway, Portugál, Russia, Spain, South America, and Sweden - are printed in Barcelona, Spain, on three 100-ft-long (30-m) Lithoman 48-page web offset presses. After these editions are printed (which will take 95 days), we'll have used over 12,812 gallons (48,500 liters) of ink - enough to fill the fuel tanks of four 747 jumbo jets, or over 600 bath tubs! - and just under half as much glue. The covers will be printed on 292 miles (471 km) of silver foil - sufficient to decorate the length of the Grand Canyon - and mounted on 1,482,000 Ib (741 tons) of cardboard. Finally, we'll have got through 7,716,000 Ib (3,858 tons) of 110-gsm Finesse 220 paper from Finland and Germany - heavier than the space shuttle with full fuel tanks and payload. The remaining editions - for Germany, Greece, Israel, China, Japan, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Poland, and Romania - are produced at various printers around the world.
