Bővebb ismertető
PERGAMON Food and Chemical Toxicology 40 (2002) 137 www.elsevier.com/locale/foodchemlox Preface This concerted action 'Food Safety in Europe (FOSIE): Risic Assessment of Chemicals in Food and Diet' is supported by the European Commission, DG Research, Quality of Life and Management of Living Resources Programme (QoL), Key Action 1 on Food, Nutrition and Health, which is part of the 5th Framework Programme for Research. The Quality of Life and Management of Living Resources Programme is built around six specific Key Actions targeted at enhancing the quality of life of European citizens and improving the competitiveness of European industry. Key Action 1 on Food, Nutrition and Health aims to provide a better understanding of consumer requirements and enhancing the competitiveness of the European food industry, to ensure a healthy, safe and high-quality food supply leading to reinforced consumer confidence in the safety and wholesomeness of the food supply, as well as understanding the role of nutrition in health and well-being. A multidisciplinary research effort bringing together a wide range of expertise is mobilised. Consequently, this concerted action is characterised by multidisciplinary research and active involvement of relevant stakeholders in the area of food safety. It is, therefore, well placed to substantially contribute to the current activities on the harmonisation of risk assessment in Europe and also worldwide. Because of this, it also plays a considerable and important exploitation role in the uptake and direct use of other outputs from research projects in the area of food safety. It is even a milestone towards a quantitative risk assessment by equally providing a detailed overview and contributing actively to the benchmarking approach in food safety. All in all, it substantially helps to underpin the European food safety policy.
