Fingers Crossed [antikvár]

Spooky Different things frighten different people but most of us get jittery about something. Often it's something completely imaginary such as the Night Bird in Ursula Wolfel's story or the Invisible Beast in Jack Prelutsky's poem or the mysterious figures with swords described by Michael McHugh. At least, I think these creatures are imaginary Anyway, we can be quite certain John Ruskin invented his wonderful character The South West Wind Esquire, who appears in his tale 'The King of the Golden River' or can we? Maybe deep inside every spooky story there's a tiny truth trying to get out—like the kids who long to escape from Mordecai Rich-ler's Children's Prison. This comes from his story 'Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang' which makes me laugh out loud every time I read it.
