faitrodoetioii Introduction to the Teacher Fairyland 3 is a course specialty designed to introduce young learners to ttie English language. Ttie syllabus is based on graded structures and vocabulary enabling pupils to use English effectively and ensuring that they enjoy themselves while learning. Each module consists of two units. It is aimed at pupils who come under the category of A1, Basic User. Basic Users Pupils In this category can understand and use some basic vocabulary and expressions related to their own personal, concrete world. They can communicate in simple exchanges, introduce themselves and ask and answer questions in a simple, repetitive way. Simple interaction is feasible, provided the other person speaks clearly and slowly and is prepared to assist. w Components • PupirsBook The Pupil's Book has been designed to appeal to, as well as Involve, the pupils in language leaming. New words and structures are presented in a clear and effective way by means of chants, songs and picture word association. New language is presented in context tinrough lively dialogues. A variety of functional exercises, songs and gomes help pupils practise the key language in a memorable and enjoyable way. Fairyland 3 is modularised; therefore, in each module tiie pupils are thoroughly exposed to the new language and achieve competency in the target language at a faster pace. Each module has Its individual aims, and at the end of the module the pupjb, with the help of their teacher, can record tiieir progress in English. The teacher has tiTe opportunity to recycle and furti^er consolidate any language rtems upon completion of the Checkpoint section. In addition, through the Pupil's Setf-Assessment Forms (found in the Teactier's Book), the pupils can assess their progress and develop their language awareness and Independence. Fairyland 3 contains the following modules and their objectives: Module 1: introductions, greetings, numbers (1-10). colours, sctiool Items: Module 2: family, toys.Jobs, numbers (J 1-20); Module 3: house ond furniture, possessions, location; Module 4: parts of tt)e body, appearance, abilities: Module 5: ciofhes, weattier, animals, actions t^appening now: Module 6: food preferences, time, dally routines, seasons and days of the week. The Pupil's Book also incorporates a variety of appealing additions: Troll Tales is a series of episodes in a cartoon story aimed at providing real language input and reading for pleasure. In addition, through the Go Green! section the pupils are given the opportunity to learn about the environment and become more aware of various environmental Issues In a fun and creative way. The pupils are also familiarised with the culture and way of life in other countries through the OUR WORLD section at the end of each module. Dialogues, texts, songs, chants and other listening activities are on the CDs or cassettes. The Pupil's Book also includes: I Special Days (Happy New Year, Mother's Day) There are two optional units at the back of the book, containing activities for New Year and Mother's Day, which should be covered as a lead-up to ti^e respective special days.
