Where else in the world can we find such clear and transparent water, sunny beaches and hidden bays, bright green forest scented with resin, wild and inaccessible mountain ranges, picturesque and remote villages, all contained in a space that seems so narrow yet boundless when seen from the sky, and above all in such a strategic point in the IVlediterranean?The outcome of such and so many "incursions" to the island is fascinating.Some came and built temples to their gods, others came and built castles for their kings, or splendid basilicas, later transformed into churches and later still into mosques. There is no other place in the world with so many archaeological sites that continuously yield in-numerable finds and objects into archaeologists' hands.
