PREFACE In preparing this revised edition of the Berlitz 2nd English Book it has been the endeavour of the compilers, whilst continuing the sequence of the lessons as neces-sitated by the Berlitz Method, to make the book better adapted to the needs of modern life and alsó to include a representative selection of the best English Literai-ture both classical and modern. We offer our best thanks to the Proprietors of Punch, to Sir Owen Seaman, Mr. E. V. Lucas and the Hon.
