Introduction My First Reading Book is written with in my 500-headword vocabulary. The Second and Third Reading Books are written within my 750-headword vocabulary (given as an Appendix at the end of each book.) The words in italics at the end of a story are outside this level and are explained in a glossary at the end of each book. The only tenses used are the am/are/is doing tense, the have/has done tense, the am/are/is going to do tense, the did tense and the do/does tense. Each story is about 325 words long and is followed by comprehension questions (marked A), which can be used for oral or written work, and exercises of various kinds (marked B). The pupils may write in the books when appropriate, or, if the teacher wishes to keep the books for future classes to use, they may copy the drawings and write answers in their own notebooks.
