As always, our grateful thanks and appreciation to Homicide Inspector Holly Pera and her partner, Joe Toomey, of the San Francisco PD for handling this stuff day to day, which we only write about. And for introducing us to Dino Zografos of the Special Weapons and Tactics Group, who made the dread of a ticking bomb something real and manageable. And to Sergeant Joe Sanchez and (ret.) Inspector Steve Engler of the Berkeley Police Department, who were there during the craziness of the sixties and who brought The People's Republic of Berkeley back alive for a few hours, in its devastation and its dream.
